This policy covers what Codeply (the desktop app, dashboard, and this website) collects, why, and who it's shared with. It doesn't cover third-party services you connect to on your own (like the AI providers or payment processor described below) beyond what Codeply itself sends them.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address, and if you sign in with Google or GitHub, the name and avatar those providers share with us.
- Onboarding answers. How you heard about Codeply and which country you're in, if you choose to answer.
- Usage records. Which AI model handled a request, token counts, the text of the instruction you typed (not the full contents of your files), and the name of the file you were editing. This is what powers your usage history in the dashboard.
- Apply records. A timestamp and file path each time you apply a change, used only to enforce your daily limit.
- Bug reports. Whatever you choose to include if you submit one through the app.
- Your code, transiently. When you ask Codeply to make an edit, the relevant file content and your instruction are sent to Codeply's AI backend and relayed to the underlying AI provider (Groq, or OpenRouter as a fallback) to generate a response. Codeply itself doesn't store your file contents beyond that request.
- Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, billing is handled entirely by Whop. Codeply does not receive or store your card details.
How we use it
To run the service: authenticate you, apply your edits, enforce daily limits fairly, show you your own usage history, respond to bug reports, and understand in general terms how people find Codeply.
Who we share it with
- Supabase, for authentication and database hosting.
- Groq, and OpenRouter as a fallback, to generate AI responses.
- Whop, for billing on paid plans.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else outside of what's needed to run the service.
Retention
The local response cache on your own machine expires automatically after 7 days. Account and usage data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion at any time (see Contact below).
Your choices
You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data, by emailing us. Signing out clears the local session on that device.
Children's privacy
Codeply isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
